The McDonalds at Mayfield is keen on expanding.
A development application has been put forward to knock down the restaurant on Maitland Road before rebuilding it with 137 seats, close to 70 car parks and a dual lane drive-thru.
The plans also include a new access point for drivers from Dora Street - however a home at the rear of the site would need to be demolished.
The McDonalds has also applied to stay open 24-7.
Newcastle Council will hold a meeting tonight to discuss the D-A, and to hear community concerns about the potential increase in noise, traffic and anti-social behaviour.
