Mayor Peter Long Gives Us An Update On The Pilbara Rock Oyster Research and Development Project

Mayor Peter Long jumped on a boat this morning to check out the oyster program at the West Lewis Oyster Farm which just received a brand new batch of baby oysters.

The oysters have been moved to evaluate which type of oysters suit the Karratha region best.

The Pilbara Rock Oyster Research and Development Project is currently in the works to develop a successful commercial Oyster industry, which is predicted to supply plenty of new jobs and kick start the local economy. 

Mayor Peter Long discusses the project, telling us whether the oysters are responding well to their current environment and gives us an update on cyclone season and the council collection service.
