Meat Cleaver Seized Following Attack In Rutherford

Charges have been laid and a meat cleaver has been seized following an attack in Rutherford overnight.

It's alleged two men - aged 31 and 33 - were involved in an altercation at a unit in Churchill Crescent when the younger of the pair suffered a serious laceration to his arm.

He's recovering in a stable condition in the John Hunter Hospital. 

A number of items were recovered by police and are undergoing forensic examination. 

The older man has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail ahead of facing Maitland Local Court today.
