Melbourne has confirmed it will exit the gaming industry.
The club announced on Wednesday it has sold their venue at Leighoak to the Moonee Valley Racing Club, effective at the end of July, and will not renew gaming entitlements at the Bentleigh Club, which expires on 16 August 2022.
Chairman Glen Bartlett said the decision came as a result of the club's financial stability.
“The announcement to exit the gaming industry is a significant day for the Melbourne Football Club,” he told the club's website.
“Gaming isn’t our core business and whilst it has been a financial imperative to operate within this space in the past, we feel the time was right to take action to exit the industry."
