It’s not too often that we’ve felt sorry for the Melbourne Storm but this one is an absolute doozy.

The border town of Albury, NSW was all but signed off as an alternative training base for the Melbourne Storm as they make step towards returning to the new look NRL, beginning on May 28th.

However, town leaders aren’t entirely happy with the prospect of a travelling group crossing the VIC/NSW border and residing on their patch of turf.

In response, the Albury City Council will be holding an extraordinary general meeting tonight to decide the fate of the Storm who were supposed to hold their first training session tomorrow.

The club itself certainly believed that the move was a lock, updating their twitter handle to reflect their new location.

The Border Mail senior reporter David Johnstone told The Rush Hour with Dobbo this evening that this has been and back-and-forth process for months and could culminate in a stunning climax tonight.
