Member For Mackay Julieanne Gilbert Discusses The Whitsundays Shark Attacks

As you might already know, there have been two brutal shark attacks on English tourists in the Whitsundays this week with one man losing his foot to the incident. 

The men were said to be thrashing around in the water when the shark began mauling one victim and then returned to attack the other. These shark attacks have bumped up the number of reported attacks to five in 12 months, with one leading to a fatality. 

This spate of attacks has lead to questions about why the shark drumlines have been removed following a Federal court ruling. Jay and Dave got in touch with Member for Mackay Julianne Gilbert who answered some questions as to how to prevent further attacks and how to put the minds of locals and tourists at ease.
