Mike Sheahan and Mark Robinson have both lost a fair amount of money from respective email and phone scams, according to Herald Sun associate editor Andrew Rule.

ANDREW RULE EXPLAINS:

Rule joined Triple M's Hot Breakfast on Tuesday morning where he was asked about the scams Sheahan and Robinson had fallen victim to recently.

Robinson had previously elaborated about how he filled in his details on his phone only to be locked out of his phone and his bank.

“How much do we think that he's been embezzled?" Eddie McGuire asked.

“Half the price of a very good car?” Rule replied. “Maybe $40,000?”

The email scam dealt Sheahan a bigger blow.

"They intercepted his actual email exchange," he explained.

“In Mike's defence, I think this could happen to anybody, because he thought it was his daughter emailing him. And it wasn't, it was a scam artist.

“(Mike went for) $40,000 plus a six-figure sum.”

It might not be all bad news, with Rule believing they might have earned some back already.

“I believe that they’re both working very hard to get it back. Mike already might have assured himself of getting back six figures, I hope. No one wants to cop that sort of money."

Eddie assured you have to be wary of what you do with your details.

"The point is, be careful out there," he said.
