Ever since the monster monsoon changed our town, the love has been coming in globally and now the numbers have been crunched.
So far through Council's elected service- GIVIT.org.au more than $1 million dollars in cash donations has been received.
GIVIT have also been working hard to connect those wanting to make item donations, with those most in need and the result is outstanding.
More than 103,000 items (household goods, linen, toys etc) have been distributed to impacted areas.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said GIVIT has received thousands of requests for help, with requests still coming daily and are expected to continue over the coming months.
“There’s been a shift in the needs of flood-affected residents,” Cr Hill said.
“When this historic event struck people needed emergency supplies like water and basic food needs.
“Some residents are fortunate enough to be moving back into their homes and there’s a growing demand for essential items like clothes, beds and whitegoods.”
“Supplies are being sent out on a priority basis that has been determined by local charity partners.”
The charities include the Australian Red Cross, Headspace, Lifeline, The Salvation Army, YWAM Townsville, North Townsville Community Hub, Queensland Youth Services and Team Rubicon.
