More than 1300 confirmed labratory cases of influenza has been confirmed since January.

This is five times higher than the average number for this time of year according to Director of Tropical Public Health Services, Doctor Richard Gair.

There's been more than 6780 presentations to the ED in March, which is up by more than 9 percent on last month.
