The first in years

Good news for movie lovers in the Perth CBD.

Palace Cinemas will open a 13 screen movie theatre in the Raine Square redevelopment sometime in the September quarter.

The cinema will be located on the top floor of the new retail and entertainment precinct, playing all the best mainstream blockbuster and new release movies.

It's a prime spot too, the cinema rooftop terrace will overlook Yagan Square and the nightlife of Northbridge.

Perth city dwellers haven't been able to chow down on popcorn at the flicks without heading to the burbs since the Piccadilly Theatre closed its doors five years ago.

Hoyts is also moving in on the scene too, set to open nine screens in a revamp of Carillon City in 2021.
