A couple from Hobart have come forward as the mystery winners of the $592,528.67 division one TattsLotto prize after reading about the win on social media.
The happy couple’s entry was one of the seven division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 3807 on 13 January 2018.
The winning entry was not registered to a Tatts Card so Tatts officials had no way of contacting the winners to break the life-changing news and had to wait until the ticketholder made contact to claim their prize.
Speaking with a Tatts official this morning to confirm the win, the happy ticket holder revealed she had discovered the win after reading about it on social media.
“We aren’t registered and we usually check it later in the week. I was at home and I was going through my Facebook feed and I saw an article about the missing winner from the paper,” the winning woman explained.
“They said it was purchased at the newsagency where I had put mine in, so I thought ‘Ohhh it could be me’.
“I rang my husband and then I checked it and there it was. I am excited but I just feel a bit weird! It just doesn’t seem real yet, once we see it in our bank account I think I’ll start to jump up and down."
“We’ve never won anything before and we’ve always done everything for ourselves, so it’s just amazing really!
“We are going to make the most of it and it is just a blessing really.”
When asked how the couple planned to celebrate their TattsLotto windfall the winning woman confessed they had already planned how it would be spent.
“Once the money is in there we will go and do something for sure! I think we’ll start off with a nice meal I think!” she laughed.
“We might go on a little trip, we were thinking of going to Scotland actually, we might go and do something interesting and exciting I think!
“My husband is still working so he will be able to retire now!
“It’s just lovely to be able to help your children. They are at the age when they are starting out. Being able to help them is just great - It will be a real boost which is really good.”
The winning entry was purchased at Winnings News & Lotto, 317 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart with owner Gary Martin saying "it was an exciting time" for the outlet.
“It has been really exciting for everyone at the outlet as we waited for the winners to come forward,” he said. “We have been telling all of our customers to check their tickets and we are so pleased we found the winner It’s our second division one winner in 10 years and we hope to sell another one soon!”
The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3807 on Saturday 13 January 2018 were 45, 36, 16, 19, 6 and 1, while the supplementary numbers were 11 and 5.
Throughout Australia, there were seven division one winning entries, including the Tasmanian entry, there's one from Queensland, two from New South Wales, one from South Australia and two from Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 240 so far this financial year, including 85 won by Tatts customers.
