Developers are making use of some prime real estate in Perth, with thousands of apartments to go up around the Belmont Racecourse.

The first sod has been turned on the multi-billion dollar redevelopment today, which is expected to generate 25,000 local jobs.

The first stage of the project will see the creation of 1,500 new apartments, 6,000 square metres of retail space and 20,000 square metres of commercial space.

With views of Optus stadium, residents will also benefit from great connectivity, as the precinct is located directly next to the train line.

Premier Mark McGowan says the precinct will benefit enormously from the public transport network already in place and as the community grows, it will benefit from easy connections to other metropolitan precincts and urban centres via Metronet.
