A new airline's about to take to the skies of the Hunter.

A seven-seater seaplane known as a 'Beaver' will soon connect Cessnock Airport with Newcastle Harbour and Sydney Harbour offering regular charter flights.

It'll run once or twice a day, catering for time-poor tourists to experience the sights of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

Hotel magnate Jerry Schwartz first unveiled plans for Blue Sky Airlines in 2015.

"I've had the plane for about a year and it's taken that long to actually get the amphibious floats from the US and attach them to the plane," he said.

"I'll hopefully be promoting the commencement of the service in the next month or so."

Mr Schwartz is also about to launch a new bus service connecting the Hunter Valley with Newcastle Airport and the Newcastle CBD.
