It's been a busy 12 months as the Shire of Northam has been planning and finalising the design for the new aquatic centre to be constructed at the Northam Recreation Centre.
Cooper and Oxley have been awarded the contract to build the new facility worth $10 million with the design by architect Donavan Payne Architects.
Some of the features of the new facility include
* An eight lane 50 metre outdoor heated swimming pool
* A four lane 25 metre heated lap pool to swim pool
* A heated learn to swim area as well as heated leisure / ‘tots’ pool and shaded water play area.
Also the Northam Aquatic Centre will incorporate up to four water slides.
The Shire Of Northam Councillors voted unanimously to award to project contract and construction is set to begin in 2019 with the facility anticipated to open for the summer of 2019/20
The new Northam Aquatic Centre will replace the current pool on Mitchell Avenue.
