Toowoomba’s iconic Christmas Wonderland received a boost this week with Toowoomba South MP, Mr David Janetzki presenting the Lions Club of Toowoomba West with a grant to help its keep cool in the warmer months.

The $11,363 grant will be used to erect a shade structure for the Club’s storage facility.  Over the past few years this facility has been the base for the storage of the Christmas Wonderland and where the volunteers meet twice a week to work on the displays and lights.

Club Treasurer, Mr Merv Symons said that “volunteers have been working in the open on a concrete slab but this new shade structure will protect them from the elements and ensure that the Christmas Wonderland is at its best for the community to continue to enjoy”.

Mr Janetzki praised the Lions Club of Toowoomba West for their contribution to the community.

“As a father of young daughters, I speak for every parent in Toowoomba when I thank the Lions’ volunteers for their hard work and commitment to the Christmas Wonderland”.  “The Christmas Wonderland reflects the values our city holds important – family, positivity and community spirit”.
