New Zealand Approves Pfizer Vaccine For Kiwi Kids Aged 12 -15

Medsafe, New Zealand's medical authority has given the go-ahead for children aged 12 to 15 to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

Our friends across the ditch had earlier approved the jab for use in those aged 16-years and older.

The progressive move places NZ in line with other regulators in Europe, UK, the US, Canada and Japan.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has welcomed Medsafe's "very carefully considered" provisional approval of the Pfizer for 12 to 15-year-olds.

"There are around 265,000 children in this age bracket and our existing Pfizer purchase order contains more than enough doses to cover two vaccine for this entire group. We will not need to buy any more to cover them, and nor will anyone miss out from Medsafe's advice"

Details in the roll out are expected to include schools with the possibility this age-group could be vaccinated at the same time as other whānau members.

But young Kiwis won't be getting the vaccine until the NZ Government give their final tick of approval.
