How Much Will It Cost You To Drive On NorthConnex?

Central Coast commuters will be slugged more than $3000 a year if they travel to and from work via North Connex.

The state opposition's calling out the expensive price, with private company Transurban set to charge most motorists $7.02 a trip.

While truck drivers will be slugged $21.05 for using the nine-kilometre tunnel. Truckies will also be fined if they avoid the toll road, by travelling on Pennant Hills Road or a different route.

Gosford MP Liesl Tesch says the tolls will keep going up by 4% a year or at the rate of inflation – whichever is more.

“People are looking forward to a faster trip to the city, and improved quality of life with more time with their families,” Ms Tesch says.

“But the extra expense, combined with the Lane Cove Tunnel and the Harbour Bridge… it’s the Coasties that are paying.”

“In Western Sydney, when the government reintroduced the toll [on the M4 as part of WestConnex], we’ve found a whole bunch of people aren’t using that faster trip because they can’t afford to.”

The road connecting the M1 to the M2 is set to open to motorists in December next year, though earlier this month Transurban put the opening date “under review”.
