Canberra has been rattled by a magnitude 3.1 earthquake.

More than 200 people have reported feeling the earthquake in the nation's capital at about 10:05am on Friday.

The earthquake hit at a depth of about 10km in the northern suburbs near Forde, according to Geoscience Australia.
