The NRL clubs lost a total of $53.4 million last year with the Broncos and Cowboys the only ones to turn a profit, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Parramatta had the worst result, losing $12 million last financial year - this included Anthony Watmough’s payout and fines given for breaking the salary cap.
NRL champions Cronulla lost $600,000 despite winning the premiership, while Penrith lost $7million, due to the costs incurred running Panthers stadium and its world class academy.
The NRL are yet to comment on the report.
