Cooler classrooms are on the way for public school students across the Murray, the NSW State government releasing a list of 900 schools which will be first to get new air conditioning.

It's all a part of the 500 million dollar Cooler Classrooms Program.

A number of our region's schools are included; Wentworth, Dareton, Buronga, Gol Gol and Euston Public Schools on the list.

Education Minister Rob Stokes says they’re also installing solar panels and smart systems, so schools can efficiently heat and cool their classrooms and libraries.

Under the scheme, schools in areas which have an average January maximum temperature of 30 degrees or more will automatically get air conditioning.
