The Mayor is not happy

The list of authorised workers who can leave the three tightly lockdown areas of Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown and Liverpool has been broadened overnight.

The updated list includes teachers, food industry workers, delivery drivers and more.

However, Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone is not happy about the government's backflip, posting the following message on Facebook:

After causing so much confusion, heartache and realising that banning workers from our LGA from working in other LGA’s would cause services and industry to close across all of Greater Sydney, the Government has now backflipped from yesterday and if anyone works in any of the authorised industries on the link below, you can go to work but need to get tested every 3 days. I hope this clears it up the utter chaos caused by yesterday’s press conference at 11am.

Non-essential retail across Greater Sydney has been closed and construction is to be paused from midnight on Sunday.

A heap of fresh COVID exposure sites have been released overnight, so go to New South Wales Health's website for more details.
