New South Wales recorded the deadliest day of the pandemic with 15 deaths and 863 new Covid cases on Wednesday.

Seven women and eight men have passed away with Covid, including two people in their 40's and two aged in in their 50's.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian remarked that there have been fewer cases recorded in Sydney, greater Sydney, western Sydney and south-western Sydney, while there an increase in Covid cases has been seen the regions, particularly in the Illawarra Shellharbour area.

The Premier also revealed that in the staged easing of restrictions from October 11, the state will allow two fully vaccinated visitors to aged-care facilities.

"For those of you who haven’t been able to see a loved one for around three months, Monday, the 11th, so long as you are fully vaccinated, two at a time and two per day are able to visit a loved one in an aged care facility," Ms Berejiklian said.

"This is welcome news, and we ask people to exercise a degree of caution. If you have symptoms or you are not well, don’t do it. We don’t want to compromise the safety of your loved ones and those around you"

Meantime, the state's vaccination rates are soaring with almost 62 per cent of people double jabbed, while more than 86 per cent have received their first dose.

"We are inching closer to that 70% double dose figure, and 12 to 15-year-olds, 44.5% of them have already had a first dose, which is outstanding given the vaccine was only made available a few weeks ago"

Authorities are confident the state will reach 90 per cent single dose target by the end of next week.
