The Gold Coast could be set to get its own world-class ocean park in an ambitious plan from Queensland Government.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk revealed on Sunday the government's draft master plan for The Spit, including 140 hectares of open space to rival famous spots like Central Park, London Park and Hyde Park.

The so-called 'Gold Coast Ocean Park' included a selfie tower to snap a picture of the city skyline, a superyacht marina, a small section of rainforest, and a light rail link with at least two stops along Sea World Drive.

The option for a cruise ship terminal was also incorporated.

Meanwhile the current features available at The Spit would be improved, including the marine rescue facility and boat ramps.

The public can have its says on the plans until the end of the March.

It followed an 18 month community consultation process, with more than 2500 people attending sessions and more than 21,000 pieces of feedback received.
