A 57-year-old woman has died overnight, on a notorious stretch of road in the Gold Coast hinterland.
The car she was a passenger in crashed into a tree off The Panorama at Tallai around 8:00 on Sunday night.
The Mudgeeraba woman died at the scene while the male driver was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
He remained in a critical condition on Monday morning.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the smash, and police are calling for any witnesses to come forward.
Senior Sergeant Brett MacGibbon issued a warning for motorists in the area.
"It's a beautiful spot up here [and] a lot of people come up here to take a look at the outlook at the top," he said.
"Just slow down, take it really slow; it's very windy, very narrow".
