Paul Green would’ve slept better than he has in the past five weeks last night after his side put in a stellar effort to salvage some pride in Game Three of State of Origin, running out 20-18 victors against an undermanned New South Wales.

However, despite restoring order in what has been a bizarre series Maroons captain, who helped deliver the Origin shield back North of the Tweed less than nine months ago, was booed by the local crowd

Speaking on The Big Breakfast with Marto and Margaux NRL Insider Dobbo revealed that the Gold Coast fans had not forgotten about the infamous contract backflip in 2015.

“The Gold Coast do have a long memory”

“It doesn’t matter what your form, Poor old Deece, he’ll never get over the backflip from the Gold Coast”

As for Green’s tenure at the helm of the Maroons, calls for his removal have died down remembering that Wayne Bennett lost his first four games and first series as an Origin coach.
