Our Far Northern beaches are going high tech from today.
Westpac and Surf Life Saving Queensland are partnering to bring drones to each region along the coast of our Sunshine State.
They're set to be able to have a birds eye view of our water, able to look for distressed swimmers, threats including crocs and sharks and any rips.
At this stage, there'll be one drone for each region with the possibility of growing the number if this launch is successful.
SLSC is also looking to continue their work on the drones and we could see them able to deploy something into the water for a person in distress until help arrives.
What a game changer for those of us who are still a little funny about heading out to our Far North waters because of what's lurking underneath them.
