Six hard working volunteers from the South East have been added to the Order of Australia.

Our Order of Australia Medallists this year includes five men from Mount Gambier, and a man from Millicent who have individually committed to serving their communities.

Mount Gambier’s Edgar Pfeiffer received his OAM for:

  • Lions Club of Mount Gambier
  • The Institute of Foresters of Australia
  • South Australian Woods and Forests Department
  • Campbelltown lions Club
  • Millicent Lions Club
  • Penola Hospital Board

Mount Gambier’s Barry Ward is also an Order of Australia medallist for involvement with:

  • RSL Blue Lake Highland Pipe Ban
  • West Gambier Football Club
  • West Gambier Cricket Club
  • Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association
  • Mt Gambier Neighbourhood Watch
  • Royal South Australian Regiment Association

Mount Gambier’s Eric Roughana has been recognised for contributions to:

  • Lions Club of Mount Gambier
  • Boandik Lodge
  • St Paul’s Catholic Church

Millicent’s Michael Bleby has been rewarded for his work through:

  • Anglican Church of Australia
  • Anglican Diocese of the Murray
  • Pastoral District of Millicent/Penola
  • Millicent/Penola parish Council
  • Forestry
  • Natural resources management
  • Education
  • Millicent choral Society
  • Lions Club of Millicent
  • Justice of the Peace

Mount Gambier’s John Allen got his OAM for:

  • City of Mount Gambier
  • Limestone Coast Area Consultative Committee
  • Mount Gambier Probus Men’s Club
  • Lakes Rotary Club
  • Independent Retirees of Mount Gambier
  • Scouts South Australia

James Galpin is also part of the OAM list, for community service at:
