Yesterday’s damaging winds carried on all through the night and continue this morning, leaving 39,450 properties without power during the wild weather’s peak.

SA Power Networks has confirmed 30,000 properties have been affected in the metro area alone, with State Emergency Service crews responding to 800 calls since yesterday, mostly for downed trees, power lines and ripped off roofs.

Residents at Glenelg North were left homeless when the strong winds ripped the roof off their unit block on North Esplanade just before 10pm last night.

Anyone who spots fallen trees and damaged wires to stay clear should call 13 13 66.

More showers are on the way today after 10ml fell on the City and up to 40ml in the Hills over 24 hours.
