We're being told to brace for 5 days of heat, today kicking off a number of scorchers.

It will be the longest run of very hot weather in 5 years with temperatures expected to exceed 35 each day.

Neil Bennett from the Weather Bureau says it's a low level heat wave, and is encouraging us to check on elderly family members and friends.

It's also important to remember to keep pets hydrated.

While Paraburdoo is set to swelter through a week of temps in the mid 40s.
