South Australian premier Peter Malinauskas joined the Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey & Jars and addressed the speculation that Adelaide may host a LIV Gold event in the future.

LISTEN HERE:

"We understand that LIV Golf has an interest in potentially hosting an event at Grange Golf Cub and they’re looking at that amongst other options," Premier Malinauskas said.

"If this is an opportunity to potentially showcase the state to another market, indeed an international market, I think that needs to be thought through very carefully."

Malinauskas said that the decision will be made soon with an eye to host the event next year.

"They’re talking about the first half of next year… I think they’re looking summer/autumn next year, so that’s not far away," he said.

"If they are gonna make a decision to commit to Australia in that part of the year, we understand that decision is likely to be in the next few months."

Malinauskas said his government is not the only canvassing the opportunity to host the event.

"There are other state governments around the country that LIV golf is talking to, not least of which as I understand it are Queensland and New South Wales."

He also had a riposte for people who aren’t sold on LIV Golf as concept.

"I know LIV Golf has some naysayers out there, but what favours has the USPGA down for our country lately?"
