Road rage at road works is not on.

That is the word from Tweed Shire Council, which is pleading with motorists to keep their cool and show some patience after a car ran into a traffic controller at Chinderah earlier this month.

It's the third reported instance of aggression against council workers on the Tweed recently, with another traffic controller nudged by a vehicle, and a third copping a verbal spray from a fed-up motorist.

The matters have all been referred to police and aggravated drivers are being warned they could face fines, or even jail time for bad behaviour.
