Mt Gambier Police are seeking information from the local community following a series of car fires that have occurred in forest areas in the last month.

Between Tuesday 12 December and Tuesday 16 January, three deliberately lit car fires have occurred in the Caroline and Donovans forest areas near Mt Gambier.

Sometime between 15 January and 16 January a VT Holden Commodore sedan was set alight near the intersection of Hutchesson Road and Radiata Road at Caroline.

On 14 January a vehicle stolen from Mount Gambier was completely destroyed by fire in forest area on Princess Margaret Road at Caroline.

And on 12 December a VT Commodore station wagon was located burnt  on the side of the road at Bones Road Donovans, setting alight a small patch of grass.

Police are appealing for any information in relation to these fires.

These deliberate acts of setting fire to a vehicle in a pine forest at this time of the year have the potential for causing a significant fire event with serious consequences.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents including the sighting of any suspicious persons or vehicles in or around the Caroline and Donovans forest areas is asked to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
