Police are investigating a hit and run in Marian. A white Commodore allegedly hit another car just after eight Tuesday night on Marian-Hampden Road before speeding off. The cars collided with the potential to cause significant injury with both cars spinning on the road and sustaining damage. If anyone has information call Crime Stoppers.
Local MPs have hit out at George Christensen over allegations he spent more time overseas than in his electorate last year. Reports emerged that the Member for Dawson spent almost three hundred days in the Philippines during a four year period. Labor has said for two years in a row he was in Manila for more days than he was in Federal Parliament Mr Christensen is yet to make a public statement.
Mackay Council is worried people haven’t been given enough information on proposed state-wide local Government changes. Discussing proposals for compulsory preferential voting in the regular meeting yesterday they said the change would lead to an increase in “donkey votes.” They are concerned there was limited public consultation and have said they will actively move to promote the changes to residents.
