A car has reportedly struck a group of soldiers in Paris, leaving six injured.

Police say the incident occurred in the north-western suburb of Levallois-Perret, the BBC reports.

An operation is currently underway to locate the vehicle and its occupants in what has been described as a possible attack.

Mayor of Levallois-Perret Patrick Balkany told French news channel BFMTV a BMW parked nearby appeared to have been waiting for the soldiers to leave their barracks, describing the incident as an "attack" of “deliberate aggression”.

“It’s without doubt a deliberate act … This vehicle was waiting for them,” Balkany said.

“The BMW accelerated very quickly the moment they came out. This happened in the middle of the town. It happened very quickly.”

More to come.
