Police will be out in force again in Melbourne where picnic protests are planned in response to vaccine mandates and ongoing lock-downs.

More than 100 people were arrested during yesterday's demonstrations.

And even more are planned for next weekend.

The state recorded another 1220 cases and three deaths, as Melbourne equals the Buenos Aires world record of 245 days in lockdown.

It's a dip on yesterday's record-high 1488 infections.
