Sydney is about to cop an absolute heatwave in the lead up to New Year’s.
Sydney’s west will sizzle up until and including New Year’s Eve, with the mercury in Penrith, Liverpool, Campbelltown all set hit the 40C mark over the next couple of days.
The city will be almost 11 degrees cooler compared to the West on Thursday and Friday but will reach the mid-30’s by the weekend.
A Poor air quality warning has also been issued by NSW Health officials as ozone levels rise due to the summer heat.
People with asthma are being urged to take extra precautions by limiting time outside during the hottest parts of the day to limit their exposure to ozone pollution.
