The heavy storms across Sydney this morning have caused a bit of chaos, with public transport services and flooding resulting in travel delays.

Power outages have also occurred across the metropolitan area, with Ausgrid currently working to restore power to oveer 6,600 customers.

Earlier this morning, East Ryde, North Ryde, St Ives, Turramurra and Marsfield lost power, as well as many homes and businesses in the Sydney CBD.

It has since been confirmed that power has been restored to these areas.

However, 1,600 customers across Milperra, East Hills and Panania have since experienced power outages.

Emergency crews are currently attending to the issue.

Ausgrid tweeted after 10am to state that the heavy rain has caused issues across the network, with the flooding of a CBD substation causing particular grief near Wynyard.

Crews have been pumping water out of the substation, with repairs underway.
