A deep clean is underway at Prahran Market after it was declared a Tier 1 Covid exposure hotspot after an infected shopper visited seven stores last Saturday.

The new Covid scare published on the market’s website, said a positive shopper visited between 9:40am and 11:15am stopping at nearly a dozen outlets for meat, bread, fresh produce, and coffee.

The market stalls the person shopped at include Pete n Rosie’s Deli, Q le Baker, Prahran Seafoods, John Cester’s Poultry and Game, Gary’s Quality Meats, Reliable Fruit and Veg and Market Lane Coffee.

All market staff have been ordered to get tested and isolate and anyone who visited during the exposure period must now get tested and isolate for 14 days.

Victoria recorded 26 new local Covid-19 cases on Thursday, with only two infectious while in the community and the number of new exposure sites now exceeds 380.
