Melburnians will have an even tougher time getting around this afternoon, with a truck crash on the Princes Freeway closing all lanes citybound.

LATEST UPDATE:

A truck has crashed on the freeway near High Street, blocking the entire freeway and causing all traffic to divert.

One lane is also closed outbound.

"The Princes Freeway, Laverton has been closed citybound, due to a truck collision near High Street," Vic Roads said in a statement.

"One lane is closed outbound near Newland Street, leaving three lanes open.

"We suggest drivers avoid the Princes Freeway, and find an alternative route.

"Citybound traffic should exit at Forsyth Road, take Sayers Road and Old Geelong Road to get back to the freeway.

"Outbound traffic should consider exiting at Millers Road, then take Queen Street and Central Avenue through Altona Meadows."
