Take it slow, take it slow, take it slow.

That is the message the RACQ is spreading as people across South-East Queensland prepare to pack up and hit the road for the holiday season.

33 people died in road accidents on the Gold Coast and Logan so far in 2018, a 16% increase compared to the five year average.

RACQ spokesperson Clare Hunter urged drivers to stay alert and take it easy to help stop the toll rising any higher.

"These are real people who have died on our roads and we don't want it to happen to any more families," said Ms Hunter.

"So this Christmas we're asking people to remember: Because we've all got places to go, take it slow, take it slow, take it slow."
