The NRL are extremely concerned with the surface of Brookvale Oval after it came under fire from Roosters coach Trent Robinson.

Robinson slammed the surface which saw new Rooster Brett Morris suffer a suspected MCL injury, that could sideline him for up to six weeks.

"We need to look at that as a game just to standardise our fields right across to make sure that there's a high-quality surface for the athletes that we've got playing," Robinson said following the Roosters win over Manly on Saturday night.

"… It's not that hard, we're a professional sport now, we just need to have professional standards across the surface."

League insider Brent Read joined Triple M Footy and revealed the NRL will inspect the surface and make a decision ahead of the Sea Eagles next home fixture against the Rabbitohs in a fortnight.
