What's Really Happening With Our Recycling?

Central Coast Council has moved to allay fears much of what we're putting in our yellow bins isn't going where we expect.

It comes after this week's ABC Four Corners episode lifted the lid on the waste industry....with allegations up to 50 percent of recyclable material is ending up at the tip or stored interstate.

But Council has confirmed under the terms of it's current contract...all material nominated as recyclable and not contaminated must be recycled, and not be disposed of to landfill.

In terms of glass, the sub-contractor, PAR, has at times been crushing it to supply companies in the civil construction industry.
