Rhys Palmer’s Family Have Been Told To “Prepare For The Worst” After Motorbike Accident

The family of former AFL player Rhys Palmer have been told to “prepare for the worst” after he and his partner were in a motorcycle accident on Saturday evening.

Tom Browne had the news on the Hot Breakfast this morning.

“On the Canning Highway, which is one of the main highways in Perth, on Saturday evening he (Palmer) was involved in a motorbike crash with his partner,” Browne said.

“He had to have his spleen removed and he’s now in an induced coma.”

Palmer’s sister yesterday said the family were gravely concerned for his health.

“His sister came out yesterday and said he’s too young to leave and the doctor has said to the family to prepare for the worst,” Eddie McGuire said.

“So it’s a really bad situation for Rhys Palmer.”

Palmer’s WAFL club stressed that he was not at fault for the accident.

“The club is of the understanding that Rhys was driving the motorbike and was not to blame for the accident,” they said in a statement.

It is understood Palmer's partner escaped without serious injury.
