A 17 year old has sadly lost his life

A 17 year old Herdsman Cove youth has died following a two vehicle crash on Sugarloaf Road, Risdon Vale, last night.

At 7.10pm on Sunday 25 June 2017, Police were alerted to a two vehicle crash on Sugarloaf Road, Risdon Vale adjacent the intersection of Sycamore Road. This crash involved a motor cycle and small truck.

A Hino truck has been turning from Sycamore Road into Sugarloaf Road to travel in a southerly direction towards Lindisfarne. The truck was being driven by a 67 year old Risdon Vale man.

At this time a 200cc blue Suzuki motor cycle has been travelling along Sugarloaf Road towards the direction of Grass Tree Hill Road. The motor cycle was being ridden by a 17 year old youth from Herdsmans Cove.

The motor cycle has impacted the driver’s side of the truck’s tray just in front of the rear wheel.

Attempts to resuscitate the motorcyclist at the scene by emergency service personnel were to no avail. He was declared deceased by ambulance paramedics.

The truck driver was not physically injured but was badly shaken.

Police crash investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident or who may have actually witnessed the crash.
