The Adelaide Crows narrowly lost reigning premiers West Coast yesterday - thanks in part to a fantastic performance from young forward Darcy Fogarty.

The Crows went down to the Eagles by 10 points, but there was plenty to take away from the performance, namely the five goals kicked by 19-year-old Fogarty.

It took until Round 20 for Fogarty to play is first game in 2019, after playing ten games in his debut season last year.

And yesterday's performance has got a lot of Crows fans asking why it took so long for the young forward to find himself back in the senior side.

Speaking this morning on Triple M Adelaide's Roo & Ditts, former Crows legend and now board member Mark Ricciuto said it was all about Fogarty earning his spot in the team through SANFL.

The Crows come up against West Coast's grand final opponents Collingwood this Saturday afternoon at Adelaide Oval in a match that is pivotal to the Crows playing finals footy in 2019.
