"Jockey Kerrin McEvoy copped a $50,000 fine and is suspended for 13 meets for overuse of the whip" 

Jars (filling in for Ditts today) brought up the huge penalty slapped on Tiger Moth's jockey yesterday during The Melbourne Cup.

This raises the point, "Do we need the whips at all? If no one has a whip, then the playing field is level."
