Sydney Roosters star recruit Angus Crichton has been ruled-out of the club's World Club Challenge fixture.

Crichton underwent shoulder surgery during the off-season and will now have to wait until round one of the NRL season to make his debut, coincidentally against his former club the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

If the Roosters win, they will equal Wigan's record of four World Club Challenge wins.

Wigan, now coached by former Rooster Adrian Lam, last played in this fixture in 2017 when they defeated the Cronulla Sharks 22-6.

The Roosters take on Super League winners Wigan Warriors, Monday morning 6am (AEDT), with the game live on both Fox League and Channel Nine.
