A fresh warning has been issued about online ticket reseller Viagogo after dozens of people were left out of pocket at the Stevie Nicks concert in the Hunter Valley last Saturday.

It's understood more than 40 fans couldn't get through the gates at A Day On The Green at Bimbadgen, because the tickets they'd bought on the Swiss-based website were duplicates or fakes.

They also paid much more than those who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster.

Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean says Viagogo is notorious for dodgy dealings.

"I'm alarmed but not surprised to learn that there were ticket problems at this event. Viagogo is notorious and I've issued numerous warnings about their shonky practices," he said.

"Viagogo seems to specialise in delayed delivery, event cancellations, heavily marked up prices, hidden fees and failure to provide refunds."

NSW Fair Trading has received 284 complaints about Viagogo so far this year.

Anyone caught up in a Viagogo ticketing scam is urged to call Fair Trading on 13 32 20 or lodge a complaint at fairtrading.nsw.gov.au.
