A Victorian Grammar School has accidentally sent students a link to a porn website instead of an invitation to a school event.

According to the Herald Sun, a review is being conducted after students in years 7 to 12 were emailed what was supposed to be a link to tickets for an annual school breakfast, but were instead redirected to an adult website after clicking on the link.

It is understood that the link had a typographical error which was mistakenly circulated in a staff memo.

“As soon as we became aware of this, we immediately emailed all students requesting that they do not click on the link and advising that it may infect their computer,” the principal said.

“We realise the gravity of this error and are deeply remorseful.

“While this was completely unintentional, we are extremely upset that we may have exposed our students to a website of this nature as it is clearly not in line with our school values.”

The prestigious school, which has yearly fees around the $25,000 mark, is offering wellbeing support to any student "adversely" affected by the incident.
