Prime Minister Scott Morrison joined the Hot Breakfast this morning and explained what he discussed with US President Elect Joe Biden.

"We had an excellent discussion, and President Elect Biden sort of comes in to the job no stranger to issues in Australia," Morrison said.

"Our alliance, our relationship, and his knowledge of things here in the Indo-Pacific region, and his commitment to the US’s presence here and our partnership here between Australia and the United States.

"Our alliance will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year, and so I was happy to invite him down under for that, and I know that New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has had similar conversations more recently when they spoke."

Morrison also addressed the transition of power from current president Donald Trump to Biden.

"There’s always a transition when you move from one government to the next, and that’s now moving in a more orderly way, and that’s welcome,” he said.

"We look forward to working with him as we do with any US administration."

Morrison also discussed the Aussie academic freed from Iran, being a Prime Minister during a pandemic and more.
